From the introduction of the LLWR data capture system in 2002, Welsh WBL training providers began facing increasing pressure from ELWa (now DELLS) to reduce error rates for their learner data. For Sporttrain the first hurdle was to move from their paper-based systems over to an electronic format. They then focused on capturing & making visible their existing processes across the organisation. Obvious inaccuracies were highlighted and related processes updated. However, underlying trends can often only be identified by ongoing monitoring of process metrics.
Sporttrain used GT portalBase to record and communicate each data accuracy issue to the relevant parties for immediate remedial action. However, in the background data was accumulating that allowed the creation of classes of issues which informed understanding of longitudinal trends. By creating these classes & ignoring normal variance, Sporttrain were able to track issues back to root causes & address underlying problems. As a result there has been a radical & continuing decrease in the number of issues arising. |
